Bandung Convention Center

15-17 JULY 2016

Bandung International Digital Arts Festival (BIDAF) is an annual digital arts festival located in Bandung, the capital city of West Java.
Following the success of the first BIDAF last year, the second BIDAF will expand its program to include works in video arts, animations, digital game, digital imaging, sonic arts, intermedia performance, robotic arts and interactive installations.

The three-day festival (July 15-17) will become a very significant intercultural platform for Indonesian and International artists to share expertise and experience as well as to engage in mutual artistic encounters.

The festival’s main program will center on four important aspects of the digital arts practices that feature the most recent and advance development in the digital arts and technology in terms of artistic, economic, and technical influences in the global context.

Video Art & Digital Imaging

Video art is a type of art which relies on moving pictures and comprises video and/or audio data
The difference between video art and theatrical cinema is that video art does not necessarily rely on many of the conventions that define theatrical cinema hence, delineates video art from cinema's subcategories.

Animation & Digital Games

Animation is the process of creating the illusion of motion and shape change by means of the rapid display of a sequence of static images that minimally differ from each other.
Animations can be recorded on either analogue media, such as a flip book, motion picture film, video tape, or on digital media, including formats such as animated GIF, Flash animation or digital video.

Sonic & Robotic Arts

Robotic art is any artwork that employs some form of robotic or automated technology.
There are many branches of robotic art, one of which is robotic installation art, a type of installation art that is programmed to respond to viewer interactions, by means of computers, sensors and actuators.

Intermedia performance & Interactive Installation

Installation art is an artistic genre of three-dimensional works that are often site-specific and designed to transform the perception of a space.
Generally, the term is applied to interior spaces, whereas exterior interventions are often called public art, land art or intervention art; however, the boundaries between these terms overlap
